Everyone who knows Ardsley Middle School knows Eduardo Cruz, a Jenkin’s award winning custodian whose unwavering commitment to his work and kind heart inspire students and staff alike. With nearly 26 years of service, Eduardo has become an integral part of the school community, touching all who know him with his kindness and dedication. Eduardo is facing a brave battle against pancreatic cancer, and his Ardsley family is eager to help him in his time of need.
Born in Lima, Peru, Eduardo’s parents instilled in him the drive to attain his goals, no matter the obstacles. His five children fill him with the greatest pride. For Eduardo, family is not just a source of joy, but also the driving force behind his unwavering work ethic.
Aside from family, what motivates Eduardo to work hard every day? The answer is simple: it’s the joy he finds in seeing the smiles on the faces of the students at Ardsley Middle School. “If they are happy, I am happy,” he says. Eduardo truly loves his job. He reflects, “I get to work with good people. The Ardsley community has always shown me love, care and respect.”
Eduardo is a constant reminder of the power of resilience, dedication, and the simple acts of kindness that can touch the lives of many. As we stand with him as he takes on this battle, let us be reminded of the profound impact one person can have on a community, simply by showing up, working hard, and spreading a little bit of love along the way. So AMS, let’s have some fun, and run for Eduardo!
